Robert Miles Galloway Obituary

Robert (Bob) Miles Galloway, 90, of Falls, passed away Saturday afternoon in Wilkes-Barre General

Hospital after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Scranton, he was a son of the late Hollie and Blanche Lewis Galloway. He was a graduate of

West Pittston High School Class of 1951 where he played the trumpet in both the Marching and

Assembly Band.

After high school, Bob attended Penn State University and graduated in 1955 with a degree in Industrial

Psychology and was also in the Air Force ROTC where he served as a 2 nd Lieutenant through 1957. While

at Penn State he met the love of his life, Patricia Spannuth, and they married on July 9 th , 1955.

After college, Bob worked briefly in the life insurance industry, before moving into the Refractory

business, where he rose rapidly from a salesman, to manager, to production manager, and eventually to

Executive Vice-President of Quigley Corporation, a division of Pfizer where his office was in Manhattan,

NY. He then retired in 1991.

Bob and Pat were blessed with two daughters, Sherri and Tracy, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren,

2 great-great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way. They lived briefly in State College, PA, then

Monroeville, PA, then moving to East Brunswick, NJ, where his daughters graduated from high school.

After his retirement, Bob and Pat moved to their home in Falls, PA, where they renovated a farmhouse

and barn on 60 acres of land, with a lovely creek and falls running alongside their home.

His life was one of achievement, first as a family man which was his favorite role, a business man, and to

those who knew him as a caring, erudite, and fun companion. Many people entered his sphere, and all

felt better for having been there.

Bob was a life member of the First United Methodist Church, West Pittston where he was active in the

church choir with Pat and held several positions, including trustee. He was also a member of the F & A

Masons Valley Lodge #499, West Pittston and a past member of the Shriners at Irem Temple. He loved

to sing and perform with the Barbershop Chorus and was a proud member for over 31 years.
