Lena Sellani Obituary

Lena Sellani, 95, went home to her Lord and Savior on September 17, 2024 in Allied Hospice, Wilke-Barre.

Lena was the daughter of the late Peter and Elvira Sellani. She was a devout Christian and remained active in her church throughout her lifetime.

As an accomplished career woman, Lena worked in office administration for Prudential

Insurance for more than four decades prior to her retirement. She traveled extensively

throughout the United States and Europe. New York City and Broadway, specifically, were

frequent and special trips for Lena and her long-time best friend, the late Dolores Stankavich.

She was a self-made woman and enjoyed living independently in her own home until her

passing. Lena loved to entertain her family and was known for her homemade pasta, raviolis,

and cannoli. She often cooked meals for family members and friends during their illnesses and

recoveries. Lena participated in activities with a local group of Prudential retirees and in the

ladies’ luncheon group of the Italian Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her brothers Pietro, Mario, and John;

sister-in-law, Angie Sellani; and beautiful great niece, Lauren Dow.

The family members who remain to cherish her memory are her sister-in-law, Henrietta Sellani, nieces and nephews,

Rebecca Herb, Sandra Sellani, Susan Hosage, Gary Sellani, Peter Sellani, and John Sellani; great

nieces and nephew, Marisa Horbal; Courtney Sellani, Nadine Sellani, and John Sellani, Jr.; and

great-great niece and nephew, Maci Dow, Kellen Dow, and Chase Horbal. Special thanks to

Brenda Johnson and Jeanny Temple for the encouragement and companionship they provided

to Lena during the past few months.

Services will be conducted by her nephew and Pastor of the Italian Christian Church, Rev. Peter

Sellani, at Howell-Lussi Funeral Home in West Pittston on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.

Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. up until the time of the service. Private interment will take

place in West Pittston Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
