Obituary of Andrew J. Kovitch III
Andrew Joseph Kovitch III, 65, of Trucksville, passed away Sunday December 1st, 2024 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp. surrounded by his family after being stricken ill.
Born in Pottsville, Pa, he was a son of the late Andrew Kovitch and Marie Caruso Kovitch. He attended Wyoming Area High School.
Known as Smokey, he was a roofer by trade and learned the ropes as a young man from Elio Denardi Sr. later climbing up the ladder for the up-and-coming Smith and Miller before going to work for Keystone Automotive until her retired.
Smokey never really hung up his belt and hammer, he spent many weekends walking along the edge of a roof, no matter how high. He was a kind soul with a huge heart. Smokey was always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it. He loved bowling with his friends or shooting darts with his father-in-law. Smokey loved looking up at the night sky and telling tales to anyone who would listen. He loved Ms. Pacman (probably a little more than he should have).
Accepting Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of eighteen, when asked his religious preference by hospital staff, Smokey was quick to respond with “Christ. He is all I have.”
Smokey is survived by his mother who he cared for the better part of 20 years, three sons, Andrew IV, Luzenre, James (Karey), Wyoming, Steven (Danielle), Dallas, grandchildren who he was blessed with, Karly, Kaleb, Owen, and Lucas Kovitch. In his final moments of life were shared with is sons and his first love, Cheryl Golushka, Clarks Summit, sister Marie (Joe) Fronzek, Brother, Robert (Francis), as well as numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved all of them dearly.
Rest easy in his arms now Smokey, We love you!
