Francis T. Hopkins Sr., 83, of West Pittston, passed away Monday December 23rd, 2024 unexpectedly at home.

Born in Scranton, he was a son of the late John B. and Claire Higgins Hopkins.  He was a graduate of the South Scranton Catholic School, Class of 1960.  He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston.

Francis after high school enlisted in the United States Air Force.   He served during the Vietnam War as a Medic.

He was employed by McCarthy Tire, Scranton for many years.  Frannie, as he was lovingly called by many loved music.  He played the bass in the Scranton 50/60’s band called “Majic”.  He along with his wife, passed that love of Music to their children Ray and Jess.

For the past several years he suffered with dementia, but whenever Judey would put on Lawrence Welk or the Polka show you would see Frannie conducting, tapping out the beat of the music or even getting up to dance.

He loved going to see his children perform.   Ray as an actor, in many plays and musicals, and Jess in concerts and competitions.  He could not be prouder of them.

He was preceded in death by son Timothy Hopkins, brothers, John and Patrick Hopkins, mother-in-law, Palma Pambianco, father-in-law, Ray Pambianco, and sister-in-law, Mary Pambianco.
