It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Edythe Lombardo Kepics,
97, of Exeter, formerly of West Pittston on Sunday, January 5, 2025, surrounded
by her family.
Edythe was the daughter of the late Rosa and Federico Lombardo of West
Pittston. She was born January 25, 1927 in West Pittston and was the last
remaining sibling of the Lombardo family. Edythe was one of the few remaining
members of the West Pittston High School Class of 1944. Directly after high
school, Edythe became an executive secretary under Sallie Jones at Pagnotti Coal
Company of West Pittston. After the birth of her children, she joined the family
business, Blue Ribbon Farm Dairy, West Pittston, as the bookkeeper until her
retirement.
Edythe loved to cook and bake especially her specialties of Italian Christmas
cookies, nut rolls, and Easter pizzas. She was involved in her community,
volunteering at the Immaculate Conception Church/Corpus Christi Parish, Class
18, First United Methodist Church, West Pittston, Red Hats, and the West Pittston
Library. She was a former member of the Italian Christian Church, Pittston. A
special thank you to Monsignor John Sempa, as Edythe loved worshipping with
him while a resident at Serenity Care, Wyoming.
Edythe was preceded in death by her husband, John, 1998, and son, John F. in
2007, son-in-law, Richard L. Harris, 2017, brothers Frank, Gerard (Ben),
Carmen, Ernest, and John, and sister, Louise.
Edythe is survived by her daughter, Mary Louise Harris (Atty. Tim Doherty),
Scranton, daughter-in law, Deborah Kepics, Ocean City, New Jersey,
granddaughters, Kristy Piccolotti (Rich), White Haven, Hillary Scatena
(Danny), Pittston, great grandsons, Gianni and Ginno Piccolotti, White
Haven, and three grand pups, Barkley, Oakley and Mowgli.
Edythe is also survived by nieces and nephews, Ann Sorick, Fred
Lombardo, Rose Rich, Camille Lombardo, Meg Lombardo, Betsy Tucker,
Bill Kepics, Pat Thiele, and Frank Kepics along with many great nieces and
nephews.
A very special thank you for the loving care provided by Serenity Care,
Wyoming especially, Nancy, Lila, Jane, Amanda, and Leslie. They were
angels who treated Edythe like their own family. And another special thank
you to Donna Doherty and nurses at Traditional Home Health who provided
heartfelt Hospice Care to Edythe in her final days.
Relatives and friends may attend a viewing for Edythe on Friday January 17th, 2025 from 3pm until 6pm. at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston. A blessing service will be held at 6pm. Interment will be private in the West Pittston Cemetery.
