

Debra S. (Welliver) Shaffer, 70, of West Pittston, passed away Tuesday evening January 14th, 2025 unexpectedly at home after a brief illness.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Merle and Bernice Fessler Welliver. She was a graduate of Wyoming Area High School class of 1972. Debra was a former member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, West Pittston.
She was a pianist for many churches and played at weddings, funerals, and other events. Debbie liked to collect scarves, charms, music and figurines. She also loved to do themes with whatever she was planning for, birthdays, vacations, coffee house, tables etc. At end of the night, she would watch pimple popping with a “cof of cuppee” as she loved to say things backwards as a joke. Just before bed every night she would play computer games to help her relax. Debbie would often loose track of time and stayed up early into the morning hours.
She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Brian Shaffer, sister, Brenda E. Nighbert (Daniel), nephews, Matthew and Mark Nighbert, niece, Eryn Gaylets (Tyler) , great nieces and nephews, Aubry Nighbert, Liam and Arya Gaylets, brother-in-law’s, David Shaffer (Linda), Patrick Singleton, Michael Shaffer, and several other nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing for Debra on Sunday January 19th, 2025 at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston from 4pmm until 7pm. A service will then be held at 7pm., with Pastors Quinn and Strope, officiating. Private burial will take place in Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Carverton.
