Obituary of Daniel W. Castner

Daniel W. Castner, 68, of West Pittston and formerly of Plymouth, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday February 4th, 2025 after a heroic battle with cancer.

He was born in Wilkes-Barre on May 29^th, 1956 he was a son of the late Wesley and Janice Jones Castner.  Dan was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School.  He as a member of the First United Congregational Church, West Pittston.

Dan was employed at Geisinger as a Retinal photographer for over 15 years. 

He loved spending time with his grandson, Michael, summer trips to the Jersey Shore and golfing with is son Kyle.

Dan was the past head of the Republican party in the Borough of Plymouth, President of the Pa Society of Dispensing Opticians, charter member of the American Board of Opticianry, licensed in several states. Active in the local little league, and Past Governor of the Moose Lodge 1207, West Pittston.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Castner, brother-in-law Bill Reese, and step-son, Ronald Strelish.

Dan is survived by the love of his life. Rosanne Strelish, his son, Kyle Castner and companion Jen, daughter, Jennifer Podsadlik and husband Alex, step-daughters, Kim McCann and husband Robert, Tara Strelish and companion Jeremy Lumley, grandchildren, Michael Wienckoski, Oliver Podsadilk, and his new granddaughter that he did not get to meet, Brielle Elsie Castner, sister Jan Reese, and cousin, Shirley Giza and husband Joe, several nieces and nephews and his cat, Kitty.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing for Dan on Monday February 10th, 2025 from 5pm. to 8pm. at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston.   A Service will be held on Tuesday February 11^th, 2025 at 10am. at the Funeral Home.  Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
