
Obituary of Sterling B. Fisk
Sterling B. Fiske, 86, of West Pittston, passed away Wednesday June 11th, 2025 in Allied Hospice, Scranton.
Born in West Pittston, he was a son of the late Clarence and Marion Van Auken Fiske. He was a graduate of the West Pittston High School, Class of 1956. Sterling was a member and was very active at the First United Methodist Church, West Pittston.
After High School, Sterling joined the United States Army. He was a warrant and missile officer and also worked in electronics and was stationed in Korea, Germany and several other bases throughout the world. Sterling was also certified to handle and operate nuclear missiles. He spent 25 years serving his Country.
After he retired from the Army, he then went to work at Pope and Talbot and Pride Mobility until he retired. He was an avid golfer, played sports throughout his life and also coached some sports while he was stationed in Germany.
He was a Free and Accepted Mason and was a member of the Valley Masonic Lodge #499, West Pittston.
Sterling was preceded in death by his brothers, Clarence “Jim”, John and Charles Fiske and his sister Beverly Fiske.
He is survived by his wife the former Gertude Wengenmair Fiske, they were married for 68 years, children, Ann Marie Kane (Bob), Exeter, Marion Zeiler, Braedonton, Fl, Beverly Garzella, Pittston Twp., Bruce (Elizabeth), Houston, Tx, Ellie Tassey (Bob), Binghampton, NY, 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Private Funeral Services and burial in Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Carverton will be held at the convenience of the family.
