

Richard John Mooney, 77, of Wyoming, formerly of Exeter, passed away Wednesday June 11th 2025 at his home.
Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late Richard and Anna Sosnowski Mooney. He was a graduate of Exeter High School.
Richard served in the United Stated Army during the Vietnam war. He was awarded the bronze star. After his stint in the U.S. Army, he worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He then worked as a steel worker at the Power plant, Berwick and then went to work as a guard at Tobyhanna until his retirement.
He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish in West Pittston, Past Commander of the 1st, Jeffery DePrimo Post # 542, West Pittston. He loved drag racing and cars. Richard also completed flying lessons at the Forty-Fort airport.
Richard is survived by several cousins and friends.
The Funeral will be held on Saturday June 21st, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10am. in Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston. Everyone is asked to go directly to church on Saturday morning. A viewing will be held Friday from 5pm. until 7pm. at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston. Interment with Military Honors will take place after mass in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Mount Olivet Road, Wyoming.
