Obituary of Gerald Sworen
Gerald F. Sworen Sr., 72, of Exeter, passed away Sunday June 15th, 2025 in Allied Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Scranton, he was a son of the late William Sr. and Ruth Hobbs Sworen. He was a graduate of Pittston Area High School and was a member of St. Monica’s Parish, West Wyoming.
After High School Gerald enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He then went to work at Cascade Tissue as a parts supervisor.
Gerald loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Gerald never missed a sporting event that his kids and grandkids played in. He also enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing and frequent trips to the casino. Gerald also loved watching any type of sports on TV or going and attending a game.
He is survived by his wife the former Barbara Janiga, they were married 53 years, children, Gerald Jr. and his wife Sharon, Duryea, Brian, Exeter, grandchildren, Brian Jr., Haley, Emily, Riley and great-grandchild, Violet, brothers, William Jr, Dupont, James and his wife Maryann, Avoca, Joseph, Harrisburg, Thomas and his wife Janice, Harrisburg, sister, Deborah Sworen, Avoca, and several nieces and nephews.
As per Gerald’s wishes all of his funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
