Samantha Stackhouse 83 passed away August 25, 2025 at Wilkes Barre General Hospital. Samantha was born June 23, 1942 to the late John and Elizabeth Hastie, West Pittston. Sam, as she was known, was the mother of seven children.

She was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth "Betty" Rittenhouse Hastie.  Sam was a graduate of the West Pittston High School.

She was extremely creative and artistic, and was able to take any project she worked on, put her touch on it, and make it something special. Sam was also a very good seamstress who made anything from clothes, snowsuits, to prom dresses, but her real passion was cooking. There wasn’t a day when you wouldn’t find her in the kitchen creating one of her specialties. Her kitchen would be in total chaos at all times.

Later in life after retiring from Bon Ton, she combined her creativity and love of cooking to start a business making specialty cakes for events and birthdays, which she continued until her recent illness.

Sam was preceded in death by her son Christopher.

She is survived by her children: Daughters, Tami Lanunziata Wilmington NC, Toni Haseltine and husband Mike Wilmington NC, Johnine Patience and (late) husband Harold, Jamie Harned, Sons: Kenny Stackhouse and wife Andrea, Sean Stackhouse and wife Debbie. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by her loved ones.

A visitation will be held on Friday August 29th, 2025 from 9am. until 11am. at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston.   A blessing service will be held at 11am. with Father Paul McDonnell, officiating.   Interment will be private in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
