Ronald I. Weinland Obituary

Ronald I. Weinland, 93, of Wyoming, formerly of West Pittston, passed away Friday September 12th, 2025 at Serenity Care, Wyoming.


Born in West Pittston, he was a son of the late Charles and Helen Israel Weinland.  Ron was a graduate of the West Pittston High School Class of 1950.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, West Pittston.


Ron was employed until his retirement as a Police Officer for the Borough of West Pittston for over 30 years.   Ron also worked at the Glenn Alden shops as a tool and dye maker a Hobbie he continued doing for his whole life.  After his retirement he was self-employed as a locksmith and ran the Ronald Weinland Locksmith business for several years. 


Ron loved his family.   He enjoyed always spending time with his sons and grandchildren.


In the police academy Ron graduated number one in academics and also number one on the gun range.   He loved model trains, hunting, reading books especially detective novels, Cross word puzzles, western movies, John Wayne was his favorite.  Ron was also a gunsmith which he loved doing. 


He was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life Lois J. Weinland who passed away on December 21st, 2024, brothers, Richard and Robert Weinland.


Ron is survived by his sons, Ronald Weinland Jr., and his wife Kim, Alabama, Kurt Weinland and his wife Megan, Exeter, grandchildren, Rachel Baldwin and husband Joseph, Kyrstin Sabo and husband Justin, Ronald Weinland III and wife Kyrstin, Nathaniel and wife Heather, Tyler Weinland and Anna Jane Weinland, 9 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.


A viewing will be held on Wednesday September 17th, 2025 from 11am. until 1pm. at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston.  A service will then be held at 1pm. at the Funeral Home.   Interment with Military Honors will be held after the service in Mountain View Cemetery, Harding.


The family would like to thank the staff at Serenity Care for the love and care that they gave Ron.  It meant so much to them to know that their dad was in such great hands.  They made him a home there during his stay.
