Nancy L. Recupero, 89, of West Pittston, passed away Tuesday morning in Highland Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation, Exeter.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she as a daughter of the late Louis and Nancy Butwinski Palermo. She was a graduate of Meyers High School. After High School she attended nursing school in New York.
Nancy was a member of Corpus Christi Parish (Immaculate Conception Church), West Pittston where she sang in the choir for many years.
Nancy married her husband Anthony L. Recupero Jr. and they purchased a property at 406 Susquehanna Avenue, West Pittston in 1960 and opened the Recupero Funeral Home. For years Nancy worked side by side in the family business with her husband Anthony and her son Anthony L. III. She was instrumental in helping so many area families get through the worst times of their lives.
She loved her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed going to up to the Country at the barn at her daughter house, shopping in all the area stores especially CVS. Nancy was also an avid fan of Penn State, Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles and loved watching those games cheering them on.
Nancy was a member of the Goodwill Hose Co. and the Ladies auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life her husband Anthony L. Recupero Jr. who passed in June of 2002, and her brother Louis Palermo.
Nancy is survived by her children, Anthony L. Recupero III (Leigh), Avoca, Leanne Nyzio, Wyoming, grandchildren, Maria Recupero-English (Bill), Nancy Recupero, and Anthony Nyzio, grandpups and kitties, Khala, Buddy, Kory, Albert and Rico, a niece, Kim Pasquale, nephew, Rick Palermo.
A visitation will be held on Monday October 13th, 2025 from 5pm. until 7pm. at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday October 14th, 2025 at 11am. in Corpus Christi Parish (Immaculate Conception Church) at 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston. Everyone is asked to go directly to church on Tuesday morning. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
