Stephen T. Salvaggio, 88, formerly of Forty Fort passed away peacefully on Monday March 23 at United Methodist Homes Wesley Village after a brief illness.


His wife Carolyn passed away just a few months earlier this past December. They were married for over sixty years and raised two children Stephen and Hilary on New Street in Pittston before moving to Forty Fort in the late 1970’s.


Steve was born on November 22, 1937 to Jack and Carmella (Nuzzalo) Salvaggio and raised in a large Italian family on Luzerne Ave in West Pittston filled with many great traditions. Steve was oldest of four siblings, brother Tommy and twin sisters Ann Marie and Mary Ann. Steve received his Sacraments and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. He was an accomplished accordion player which was very dear to his heart. Steve was a graduate of West Pittston High School, Wilkes Barre Business College and a proud Veteran of the US Coast Guard.


Steve was a member of Fox Hill Country Club where he worked as a caddie as a young boy. He served on the Board of Directors and was former Vice President. Steve’s professional career was always in sales. He sold everything from caskets to carpet but the majority of his career centered around the manufactured housing industry. Steve also played an import role in his wife Carolyn’s beauty business Star Tresses, Star Beauty Academy and the Sports Page.


Steve is survived by his son Stephen and his wife Diane, daughter Hilary and her husband Neal, grandson Nealie and twin sisters Ann Marie Parente and Mary Ann Polit.


In addition to his parents and wife Carolyn, Steve was preceded in death by his brother Tommy, brother-in-law Frank Parente and sister and brother-in-law Janet and Captain Fred R. Demech Jr. USN Retired.


A Visitation will be held on Monday March 30th, 2026 in Corpus Christi Parish at 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston from 9am until 10:30am.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am.  Interment is private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
