Robert J. Duliba Sr. Obituary

Robert J. Duliba Sr. Obituary

Robert “Bob” J. Duliba Sr., 91, of West Pittston, passed away Saturday April 4th, 2026 in the Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital, Wilkes-Barre surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Glen Lyon, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Kracefski Duliba. He was a graduate of the Newport Township High School.

Bob excelled in both football and baseball during high school, and his talent on the diamond led him to be drafted straight into Major League Baseball right after graduation. He spent several years playing in the MLB before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, a decision he took immense pride in as he served his country.

Following his honorable discharge, Bob returned to professional baseball as a pitcher, joining several Major League teams over the course of his career. He played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Angels, Kansas City Athletics, and the Boston Red Sox, appearing in 176 major league games.

Bob later attended Wilkes University on the GI Bill, earning a degree in history and education. He went on to teach at Wyoming Area for many years.

His passion for baseball never faded, and he continued to coach at several levels — at Wilkes University, at King’s College alongside Ace Brogna, and at Wyoming Area. He led several standout teams, including one that produced the only player in the school’s history to reach the Major Leagues.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved every part of being outdoors, especially long walks in the woods. Bob often spent time at his cabin in Dushore with close friends and family. He cherished his wife, his sons, and most of all his grandchildren. He enjoyed picking mushrooms and blueberries and sharing them with coworkers and friends.

Bob also loved relaxing on his porch, chatting with anyone who stopped by. Many people knew him from Gerrity’s supermarket, where he formed countless friendships with his coworkers.

He was proceeded in death by his son, Michael Duliba, Brothers, Michael and Daniel Duliba and his sister Dorothy Duliba.

Bob is survived by his wife of 38 years the former Mary Ann Noss, son, Robert Duliba Jr. and husband Brandon, son, Andrew Duliba and wife Cricket, grandchildren, Emmy and Owen Duliba and several nieces and nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Robert’s life will be held at a later date to be announced.
