Kathryn L. Best, 81, of Exeter, passed away on Thursday afternoon May 14th, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy Faucett Morgan.   She was a graduate of Pittston Area High School.   After High School she went to the Wilkes-Barre Business College.   She was employed Tobyhanna Army Depot. until her retirement as a project controller.


Kathryn was a member of Corpus Christi Parish (Immaculate Conception Church), West Pittston.


She loved her family and especially her grandchildren.  Kathryn never missed a sporting event or a show that they were involved in.   She loved to cook, bake pies, crochet, painting ceramics traveling and collecting nut crackers and swans. 


Kathryn as preceded in death by her husband, James J. Best in 2012, sister, Elizabeth Scalonge, and a brother, Robert Morgan.


She is survived by her children, Dr. Kelley Best-Biagioli and husband Jim, Exeter, Lara Best, Exeter, grandchildren, Kyle Emsley, Shane Emsley, Austin and Hunter Chervenitski, and Brooke Qazizada (Matiulhaq), brother, John Morgan and wife Patty, Exeter, and several nieces and nephews.


The Funeral will be held on Thursday May 21st, 2026 at 9:30am. from the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am in Corpus Christi Parish (Immaculate Conception Church) at 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston.   Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Cedar Street, Exeter.    A viewing will be held on Wednesday May 20th, 2026 from 5pm until 7pm at the Funeral Home.
