Share On Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, James R. Shepherd Sr., loving father and grandfather, passed away at 62 in his sleep. Jim was born Jan. 2, 1959, to Wally and Jane Shepherd. He graduated high school and then attended the police academy, where he worked many years as a police officer in Luzerne Borough. James then retired and moved to Orlando, Fla. James was a hard-working business man and owned and operated a transportation company in Orlando, Fla., for several years, serving the travel and tourism industry as well as conducting private transportation needs for Universal Studios, Orlando, Fla. Jim had a passion for making every dream he had come true. He loved to help those around him any way he could and would do whatever he could to be sure his friends and loved ones were cared for and happy. Jim enjoyed visiting his son, Kevin, on his Navy Ship, taking trips in his motorhome with family, trips to Hawaii with is close friends, Tampa Ray games with his daughter and watching Tampa Bay Buccaneers games with is his son. He was also known for his quick wit and sense of humor. James was preceded in death by his father and mother; and son, Bryan; Sister Donna Chikowski; and Brother Barry Finn. He was the father of James Shepherd Jr.; Bryan Shepherd (deceased) with his first wife, Elaine Pachamovitch; and Kevin Shepherd; Kyle Shepherd and Caitlin Shepherd with his second wife, Stephanie Williams. James was the grandfather of Alaina Taylor, daughter of Kevin Shepherd. Jim's nieces and nephews include Paul Finn, Matthew Finn, Brad Chikowski, Kristina Chikowski, Leah Chikowski; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. A walk-through visitation will be held from 3 until 5 p.m. Saturday at Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston. Masks and social distancing guidelines from the state and CDC will be followed. Services and internment will be held at the convenience of the family.
