Dorothy M. Palermo, 84, of West Pittston, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, in Residential Hospice at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Hughestown, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Maude Curtis Race and was a graduate of Hughestown High School.
After graduating high school she briefly held a few jobs until she met and married her husband and started a family. When her children grew up and left home, she dedicated her life to her husband and you could always find them together shopping, going out to eat and visiting family and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Louis C. Palermo Sr., in 2016; and brothers, George, Paul and David Race.
She is survived by son, Louis C. Palermo Jr. and his wife, Kim, West Pittston; daughter, Linda Salerno and her husband, Angelo Sr., West Pittston; grandchildren, Bianca, Louis III and Michael Palermo; Angelo Jr. and Michelle Salerno; great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Isabella McManis; Irelynn Britton; Cody and Shawn Salerno; and Elijah Rudda; sister-in-law, Carmella Palermo; and several nieces and nephews.
A walk through visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines from the CDC and State will be followed.
Services and internment are private and will be held at the convenience of the family in Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
