Share Nancy Ann Sterling Poremba, 81, of West Pittston, passed away Tuesday morning, March 16, 2021, at Untied Methodist Homes Wesley Village Campus, Jenkins Twp. Born in Taylor, she as the daughter of the late Frank M. and Sara Elizabeth Willard Sterling, formerly of Moosic, and was a graduate of Pittston Twp. High School, Class of 1956. Nancy was a member of the Harding Church of Christ, Harding, and was very active in the church since 1967. She graduate in 1957 from the Bradford Beauty Academy and worked as a beautician for Wilkes-Barre in a specialty in hair color. Nancy also worked at a local cigar factory. Nancy was active in the Girl Scouts for many years as a Scout Leader, member of the Harding Fire Co. in the Ladies Auxiliary, she also worked at the Music Box Dinner Theater, the Greater Pittston Meals on Wheels and then retired from the Meals on Wheels of the Wyoming Valley. She was preceded in dearth by her, brother Willard Kent Sterling. Nancy is survived by her children, son, Eugene Poremba II; daughters, Candy Poremba Hoyt and fiancé, John Mazur; Cindy Poremba Porasky and husband, Greg; grandchildren, Danielle Fox and fiancé, Rob; Carissa Rand and husband, David; Mikol Durling and fiancée, Jess; Geoffrey Porasky; Christa Porasky; Kaylee Hoyt; and Erica Hoyt; great-grandchildren, Tyler Fox; Mason Durling; Arielle Rand; Ryker Smith; Aurora Durling; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Robert Shaw III, pastor, officiating at Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston. Internment will be held in Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Twp. A walk through visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Federal and state guidelines for social distancing will be observed and also face coverings are required.
