David J. Hartmann, 47, of Avoca, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, April 30, 2021. David fought a long battle with cancer. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Joseph and Pauline Koslosky Hartmann and was a graduate of Crestwood High School and attended Luzerne County Community College. David was employed by English Riding Supply in Scranton and also loved carpentry. Everyone who knew David knows that he had a love for music. Music was a huge part of his life. He was a well-known drummer in local bands that toured up and down the East Coast and also worked for 12 Inc, who provided lights and sound for concerts and shows throughout the area. David and his fiancée, Marissa would attend many concerts and shows, both of them brought together by music. He made many friends over the years being in the music business and enjoyed being around all of them. David loved his boys and they were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Mary Koslosky; and paternal grandfather, Joseph Hartmann. David is survived by his parents, Joseph and Pauline Hartmann, of Nanticoke; sons, Jaden Hartmann and Benjamin Hartmann, of Plymouth; sister, Heather Diano and husband, Jeff, of Mountain Top; fiancée, Marissa Marsh, of Avoca; grandmother, Anna Hartmann Zukowski, of Freeland, goddaughter, Emma Diano; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Bruce Saidman for his many years of care and Compassionate Care Hospice for the wonderful care that they gave David in his final days. A service will be held Monday at 8 p.m. at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
