John M. Williams, 99, of Bethlehem, passed away Friday morning August 12th, 2022 in Kirkland Village, Bethlehem, Pa
Born in Wyoming he was the son of the late Ebenezer and Helen Jenkins Williams, he was a graduate of Pittston High School Class of 1941.
John was a former member of Corpus Christi Parish in West Pittston before moving out of the area.
He Served Proudly in the U.S Army Air Force and the U.S. Air Force from 1943 to 1974. John flew 13 combat missions over Japan and also served during Vietnam.
After his Military Career, he worked as a maintenance director for Avery Dennison in New Brunswick, NJ.
John loved being with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His great grandchildren called him big pop pop, because his son John was also called pop pop.
He loved to golf and go fishing and also enjoyed painting.
John was preceded in death by his Wife, Catherine whom he was married for 61 years, Sister Jane Martin.
He is survived by his sons Dr. John Williams and his wife Bernadette, Bethlehem, Robert Williams and his wife Mary, Keene, NH, grandchildren, Sara Buckley, Emily Williams, Robert Williams, Catherine Williams, Mandy Johnson, and 7 great grandchildren.
The Funeral will be held on Friday August 19th, 2022 at 11a.m. from the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30a.m. in Corpus Christi Parish at 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston with Monsignor John Sempa as the Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Cecelia’s Cemetery in Exeter. Family and Friends may call from 10a.m. until 11a.m. at the Funeral Home.
