Obituary of Donna M. Connors
Donna M. Connors, 66, of Pittston, passed away Monday September 19th, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Plains Twp. after being stricken ill.
Born in Pittston she was a daughter of Joan Mozeleski McFadden and the late Thomas “Mickey” McFadden. Donna was member of Our Lady of the Eucharist Church, Pittston. She was a graduate of the Pittston Area High School and then attended Wilkes-Barre Vo-tech Practical Nursing program and attended King’s College.
She was employed at the Pittston Hospital and later at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Plains Twp. as an L.P.N.
Donna was a member of the Pittston Jacqueline's at Knights 55.
She was involved in local politics in the City of Pittston. She began her career in 2000 as a member of the Redevelopment Committee under the guidance of Mayor Michael Lombardo.
In 2002, Donna’s father Thomas “Mickey” McFadden was a City Councilman and passed away and she was then appointed to fill his seat for the remainder of his term. Donna was then elected in 2003 and served several terms and worked on many successful City projects with Council and Mayor Lombardo.
In 2009 Joseph Keating was the Mayor of Pittston and resigned before his term had ended. Donna was then appointed to fill that seat as the first female Mayor of the City.
Donna was a current City Councilwoman in the City of Pittston and ran with her running mate Ken Baings, continuing make the city a great place.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James in 2000, brother, Thomas in 2015, Sister Denise Skrzysowski in 2021.
Donna is survived by her mother Joan McFadden, Companion and love of her life Ken Bangs of Pittston, brother-in-law David Skrzysowski, sister-in-law, Pat McFadden, niece Alyssa Skrzysowski and many friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday September 24th, 2022 at 10a.m. in Our Lady of the Eucharist Church at 535 North Main Street, Pittston. Interment will be held at the Convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are by the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston.
