Dorothy Rutstein, 85, of Harding, passed away Monday November 28th, 2022 at Allied Hospice care, Scranton.

Born in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Johanna “Lucy” Zenda Waltos.

She was a graduate of GAR high school and was a member of the Harding Church of Christ. 

Dorothy and her husband Richard owned and operated Standix Auto Parts on South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre for more than 40 years.  She was in sales for the family run business.  

She loved gardening and was a member of several gardening clubs.  Dorothy also took care of the flower garden at the Exeter Twp. municipal building.  She loved painting.   Dorothy painted several of her own some of which will be displayed during her viewing and service.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Natalie Ferrence, sisters, Dolores Lewandowski and Diana Pogg.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Richard Rutstein, Daughters, Rhea Summit and husband Bernie of Greensburg, Pa, Susan Jeffery and husband Thomas of Lake Wallenpaupack, Pa, brother-in-law, Stanley Rutstein and wife Jo, Sarasota, Fl., Brother in law Gene Lewandowski, Turnsville, NJ, grandchildren, Dr. Jamie Kaufer and Fiance Tyler, Emily Hess and husband Derek, Kelly Frey and companion Adam, 4 great-grandchilden and several nieces and nephews. 

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 12pm at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston, Pastor Robert Shaw officiating.  Relatives and friends may may attend the viewing for Dorothy at the funeral home from 10am until service time.  Interment will be private in Mountain View Burial Park, Harding.

The family kindly requests that casual attire is worn with no ties.
