Anna V. Williams, 82, formerly of West Pittston, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2022, at her home in Prospect Park, Pa.
Born in West Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Lacomis Sompel. She was a graduate of the West Pittston High School, class of 1957. She was a member of Corpus Christi Parish (Immaculate Conception Church), West Pittston.
After high school, Pa. Bell came calling and lured her to Philadelphia that summer. Two years later she shifted her focus to finance, and began her 30-year career with Beneficial Finance.
Anna loved country line dancing, animals, nature, and history, and loved supporting veterans, especially the Marine Corps. She also loved carrying out Polish traditions, of which she was so proud.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert John Williams Sr., in October 1996; brothers: Robert Sompel, and Andrew Sompel Jr.; sisters: Dorothy Adrian, and Dolores Lagoda.
Anna is survived by her son, Robert Williams Jr., and his wife, Barbry, of Westminster, Md.; granddaughter, Hailey; sister, Geraldine Young; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Corpus Christi Parish (Immaculate Conception Church), at 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston. Monsignor John Sempa will be the celebrant. Everyone is asked to go directly to church on Saturday, there is no procession from the funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wyoming. There are no calling hours before Mass.
