Ellen M. Brown, 92, of Exeter, passed away Thursday morning, January 26, 2023, in Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Eleanor Gavin Feeney and was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School, Pittston.  She belonged to Corpus Christi Parish (Immaculate Conception Church), West Pittston, where she a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. 

Ellen was employed at Millers Economy Store, West Pittston, for 20 years.  

An avid sports fan, Ellen loved cheering on her favorites: the Phillies, the Sixers, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.  Ellen never missed an opportunity to play the slots at any casino.   Most importantly, Ellen loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Brown, Sr. in 1999; son, Robert E. Brown, Jr.,in 2006; daughter, Mary Pat Coleman, in 2022; sisters: Grace Hoban, Ann "Nan” Connors, Patricia Marr; and brother, Robert Feeney.

Ellen is survived by her daughter, Sister Susan Brown, IHM, Kingston; son, Edward Brown (Nancy), Harding; grandchildren:  Allison Coleman, Brian Coleman (Rachel), Macawley Knappenberger (Jeffrey), Victoria Brown ( Edward Early); great-grandchildren: Abby Fabian, Gavin and Max Coleman; son-in-law, Leonard Coleman, and several nieces and nephews. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023, at 11am at Corpus Christi Parish, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston, with Monsignor John Sempa as the celebrant.  Those going to the funeral are asked to go directly to church on Monday morning.   Interment will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton, following Mass.   Relatives and friends may call from 4pm until 7pm at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Care and Concern at Corpus Christi Parish at 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston, PA 18643; Sisters of the IHM at 230 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509; and/or Hospice of the Sacred Heart at 340 Montage Mountain Road, Moosic, PA 18507.
