Obituary of Charles John Bressler
Charles J. “Big Chuck” Bressler Sr., 66, of Duryea, passed away Tuesday morning March 28th, 2023 unexpectedly at home.
Born in Pittston he was a son of the late Elwood and Julia Kurtinaitis Bressler and was a graduate of the Pittston Area High School Class of 1974. He was a former member of St. Casimir’s Church, Pittston. After it’s closing, he then became a member of St. John the Evangelist Church.
Chuck was a Heat and Frost Insulator for Local # 38 Union up until his retirement. He was past president of the Duryea Little league for 5 years. Chuck worked hard for the kids and got lights at the baseball field so they could have night games and play under the lights.
He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and loved watching the Eagles, Phillies and the 76er’s. Chuck also loved to watch golf matches on TV, fishing and campfires was of his favorites.
Chuck was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Elwood Bressler.
He is survived by his wife the former Lisa Oliveri and they were married for 34 years, daughter, Missy, Duryea, son, Charles Jr and his fiancé Jasely, Wyoming, brother, James Bressler, Yatesville, sisters, Elaine Snedeker and husband David, Hanover Twp, Jean Bressler, Pittston, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing for Chuck on Sunday April 2nd, 2023 from 4pm until 7pm at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston. A blessing service will be held at 7pm at the funeral home. Father Jackson from St. John the Evangelist Church will officiate. Interment will be private in the West Pittston Cemetery.
