Obituary of Shirley Valenti
Shirley Valenti, 86, of Cork Lane section of Pittston Twp., passed away Tuesday morning May 2nd, 2023 at her home.
Born in Jenkins Twp. she was a daughter of the late John and Ruth Newhart McCloskey and was a graduate of the West Pittston High School.
Shirley was a member of the First United Methodist Church, West Pittston and worked in many of local dress factories as a seamstress.
She was preceded by her first husband John Paye and her husband for over 20 years Charlie Valenti who passed away in 2020, siblings, Alice Nardone, Phyllis Redmond, Jean Tilley, Grace Labar, Jessie Bell, John Dovin, and Robert McCloskey.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Virginia Quinn, step-daughter, MaryLou Wideman, adopted nephew Jim Hastie and his wife Lisa, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Dr. Radzwilka, Doctors and nurses at Geisinger Wyoming Valley for the wonderful car they gave Shirley and to Allied home health and hospice for kind and compassionate care they gave her until her passing.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11am. at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston with the Rev. J.R. Rodriquez, officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Harding. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home from 10am until Service time.
