Obituary of Margaret Zellner
Margaret Ann Zellner, 71, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away unexpectedly June 28th, 2023 at her home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Marjorie Groves Waitkevich and as a graduate of the Pittston Area High School. She was a student in the first class to attend the High School when it opened. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Wilkes-Barre.
After High School she went to Wilkes University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
She was employed as part of the administrative staff for 20 years Wilkes University.
Margaret loved spending time with her grandkids, whether it was watching them at their sporting events or watching the same episodes of their favorite TV shows a million times with them. She loved to cook. From trying the newest recipes, she found online, to making your favorite meal when you came to visit, to making her own birthday meals: she found joy in the kitchen.
Margaret was a voracious reader. She could finish a book a day, especially if sitting on the beach or by the pool. She was one who got our family into Harry Potter, and on a long car ride if the audiobook finished before the trip, she would read her book aloud.
She happily dedicated more than a decade of service to her sisters in Camp Bravehearts. Spending time with them kept her young at heart and brought out her fun-loving nature.
Margaret was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Waitkevich in 2016.
She is survived by her husband Alan E. Zellner whom they would have been married 48 years this coming November, son, Jeffrey Zellner and wife Holly of Wilkes-Barre, daughters, Leor Zellner, Freeport, Bahamas, Kerry Redditt and husband Omar, Wilkes-Barre, grandchildren, Amie Baboucarr, Kennedy Zellner, Everett, Ezrah, and Oren Redditt, and several nieces, Nephews, cousins.
