Edward J. Bernard, 67, of Harding, passed away Monday morning July 10th, 2023 after being struck by a car on State Route 92 Highway, Harding doing what he loved, running.
Born in Batavia, New York he was a son of the late Oscar and Elizabeth Feary Bernard and was a graduate of Notre Dame High School. He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston where he was also a lecture.
After High School Ed attended George Washington College.
Ed was a shift supervisor at Clearbrook where he dedicated himself to helping others in need. He was also very proud of his many years in recovery.
He loved spending time with his family, his weekly trips with his son Kyle to Bakery Delight which they loved, classic rock, marvel franchise, and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan even when they were not doing well.
Ed has a passion for running. He ran everyday and ran in several races, even in the Boston Marathon. Ed left this world doing what he loved.
He was preceded in death by his wife Susan Bernard who passed away in 2017.
Ed is survived by his wife the Former Kathleen Kile they were just married in September of 2022, son Kyle Bernard, Hanover Twp., step-son, Keith Graham and wife Lexi, New Jersey, grandchildren, Claire and Nathan Graham, Calvin Cikota, sister, Marylou Coffey and husband William, New York, Jeanne Mikelonis and husband William, California, brother, Joseph Bernard and companion Sandy, Boston, Mass., Kathleen’s children, Christopher Cikota and his wife Karissa, Noxen, Julia Panzitta and husband Andrew, Dallas, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation for Ed will be held on Saturday July 15th, 2023 in Corpus Christi Parish (Immaculate Conception Church) at 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston from 9am until 10am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am. with Monsignor John Sempa, Celebrant. Interment will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
