Alberta M. Simonson, 84, of West Pittston, passed away Wednesday morning December 20th, 2023, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Edith Kern Green and was a graduate of the Pittston High school. She was a former member of the First United Presbyterian Church, West Pittston and a Past Matron and Deacon of the church.
Alberta was employed at Bell telephone in Philadelphia and then worked as a Nursing assistant until her retirement.
She was a member of the Wyoming Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was also a Past Mother of the Rainbow girls and the Harmony Chapter, and the Women of the Moose club and was also a brownie and girl scout leader. She was an all-around great mother also coaching softball for Millers Economy Store.
Alberta loved her family. She also enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel all day and you would have to fight with her to change the channel.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Richard in 2012, grandson, Mark Dushok, 2007, sister Shirl Boback, and her brothers-in-law, Ernest Green and Pete Kasulanis.
Alberta is survived by her children, Debbie Dushok and her husband Richard, West Pittston, Richard Jr. and his companion Bruce Razvillas, West Pittston, grandchildren, Kevin Dushok, Marissa Wagner and husband William, great-grandchild and the sparkle of her eye, Mark Dushok, sister, Betty Kasulanis, West Pittston, brother, Harold Green and wife Gloria, West Pittston, and sister-in-law, Angie Green and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may attend a viewing for Alberta on Friday evening from 5pm until 8pm at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston.
A Service will be held on Saturday morning at 10 am at the Funeral Home with Interment to follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Harding.
