Janice M. James, 80, of Duryea, passed away Wednesday December 27th, 2023 in Allied Skilled Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Plymouth she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth Warman Atkinson and attended Harter High School in West Nanticoke. She was employed in our area silk mills for many years.
Janice loved her family and spending time with them. She also had a second family that was very important to her, her sober family. Throughout her life she never wanted to be a burden to anyone with her troubles but yet did everything for everyone else.
She loved camping, dancing and family holidays were especially important to her.
Janice was preceded in death by her son David Zavaskas in 2008, sister Shirley Atkinson and her brother Raymond Martin.
She is survived by her children, son, George Fediw and wife Danielle, Duryea, daughter, Dawn Wilde and husband Ray, Wilkes-Barre, grandchildren, Amy Austin and husband Daniel, David Zavaskas and wife Alexis, Carissa Smith and husband Michael, Stephanie Wilde, Mika and Celeste Fediw, 7 great-grandchildren, sisters, Betty Heatherman, Pittston, Marlene Shusta, Kingston, Ruthie Atkinson, Plymouth, Raye Ann Marske, Indianapolis, In., and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral will be held on Wednesday January 3rd, 2023 at 9:30am. from the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10am. in Our Lady of the Eucharist Church at 535 North Main Street, Pittston. Interment will be private in the Lehman Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may attend a viewing for Janice on Tuesday January 2nd, 2023 from 5pm until 8pm. At the Funeral Home.
