Richard T. Dushok, 55, of West Pittston, passed away January 2nd, 2024 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp. after a brief illness.
Born in Kingston, he was a son of Doris Hoffner Dushok and the late Thomas Dushok. He was a graduate of Wyoming Area High School Class of 1987 and a member of the First United Methodist Church, West Pittston.
He was employed until his retirement at the Wyoming Area High School Class as a custodian.
Richard was a family man and loved every minute of being with them. His grandson Markie was the light of his life and his buddy. He was member of the Boy Scouts, a life member of the West Pittston Fire Department joining in 1989, West Pittston Ambulance, and the Mount Zion Ambulance. Rich spent years of life helping other people. He was also a member of the Free Masons Lodge Number 499, West Pittston.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mark in 2007, father Thomas in 2017, father-in-law and mother-in-law Richard and Alberta Simonson in 2012 and 2023.
Richard is survived by his wife the former, Deborah Simonson, mother, Doris Dushok, Pittston Twp., son, Kevin Dushok, West Pittston, daughter Marissa Wagner and husband Billy, West Pittston, grandson, Markie, brother, Robert and his wife Kelly, West Pittston, brother-in-law, Richard Simonson and his companion Bruce Razaillas, and a niece and several cousins and many friends.
The Funeral will be held on Tuesday January 9th, 2024 at 10am. in the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston with the Pastor Lucy Obrzut, officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Harding. Relatives and friends are invited to Richard’s viewing on Monday January 8th, 2024 from 4pm until 8pm. at the funeral home. The Masons will conduct a Masonic service at 7pm. Monday.
Richard performed on last heroic act before his left this world and gave the gift of life by organ donation. He would have wanted to do nothing more but to help someone else in need.
