Obituary of Joseph D. Frushon III
Joseph D. Frushon III, 50, of Dupont, passed away Tuesday morning January 30th, 2024 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp., after a brief illness.
Born in Wilkes -Barre, he was a son of Joseph Frushon Jr. and the late Diane Rezykowski Frushon and was a graduate of the Seton Catholic High School Class of 1992, Pittston. He attended Luzerne County Community College and Northampton Community College.
He was a former member of Mount Carmel Church now St. Jospeh Marello Parish and was a current member of the First United Methodist Church, West Pittston.
He was employed in the State Prison System until his retirement.
His family was his favorite pastime. Especially being a Husband, and father to his two children. He did anything for them
Joe was a member of the FAM Valley Lodge #499, West Pittston. In his younger days he loved playing darts, pool, and also Arm wrestling where he was invited to a contest in Las Vegas. He loved playing poker and played regular games weekly with a group of his buddies.
He was very active in his church and always offered a helping hand during church events and a lot of their groups. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and also the Salvation Army Church.
Anyone who knew Joe knew his love for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pitt University. He loved his fantasy football league and watching every game.
Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Diane Frushon in November of 2023, maternal grandparents, Roman and Lorraine Rezykowski and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary Frushon.
His last act of kindness was that of organ donation for the Gift of Life.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years the former Colleen Howell, his children, Julie Frushon, Dupont, Joseph Frushon, Dupont, his father Joseph Frushon Jr., brother Chuck and wife Karen, Harrisburg, nieces, Sienna and Lilian Frushon and brother and sister in laws, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11am. at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston with the Pastor Tenny Hutchinson, officiating. Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 5pm until 8pm. At the Funeral Home. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
