Carl Wilcox, 65, of West Pittston, passed away Tuesday morning February 13^th, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Charles Wilcox.   He was a graduate of West Side Vocational School.   Carl majored in auto mechanics and loved automobiles and working on them. 

For many years at the West and East Side Auto as a mechanic.   Everyone knew Carl from the garage’s and trusted in him to take care of their cars.  He had a close group of friends who were like his brothers, Burt, Ronnie, Jackie, Marty, Sylver and many more.  

He loved football, fishing, and watching old movies.  He was a big John Wayne fan, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.    Anyone who knew Carl also saw him everywhere with Litte Carl by his side. 

Carl fought kidney disease for 16 years and then cancer of the throat.  He also delt with a lot of other medical issues.  He fought courageously until the end and was able to be at home with his family and close friends.  Even through the worst of times Carl never offered to anyone a complaint about what he was dealing with.   He always had a smile and always stopped to talk and greet everyone.

He was preceded in death by his brother Charles “Chuck” Wilcox.

Carl is survived by his wife the former Maureen Atherton-Ely, daughter, Lacey Sorak and husband Rick, West Pittston, son Carl Irving Wilcox Jr., West Pittston, grandchildren, Shane, Brandon, great-grandchildren, Blakey, Athena, and Nevaeh, brother, Brian Dzoh.

The family would like to thank the nurses at Commonwealth Health and at Allied Hospice for the great care that they gave to Carl.   Also to Keri Gitkos and his daughter Lacey Sorak for all of their help during Carl’s illness.

Relatives and friends are asked to attend a visitation for Carl on Friday February 16^th, 2024 from 6pm until 8pm at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston.   A service will be held at 8pm at the funeral home with Monsignor John Sempa, officiating.  Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
