Barbara Mae Hitchcock, 91, of Wyoming, passed away Wednesday February 21st, 2024 in Allied Skilled Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Anna Mae Brown Montanye and a graduate of the Tunkhannock Area High School class of 1951. She as a former member of the Luzerne Avenue Baptist Church, West Pittston.
Barbara loved to spend time with her family, and always cooking up a meal and baking. She loved to decorate her whole house for every holiday. She collected Jewelry and also glass pieces. Her favorite was blue glass and blue was also her favorite color. She was a kind and caring person who always looked out for others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Hitchcock in 2001, sister, Sylvia Walters, brothers, Mevin, Ralph, and Donald Montanye, and grandson, Jack Reardon.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Debora Pruitt, Wilkes-Barre, Norma Rosencrans husband Jerry, Sweet Valley, Constance Oldack husband Stephen, Kingston, grandchildren, John and Kelly Hopkins, Michelle Moore and husband John, Michael Reardon, Lynn Albertelli and husband Brett, Step-grandson, Chad Rosencrans, great-grandchildren, Lux and john Patrick Hopkins, Nina and Brooke Albertelli, Anthony Rostock, Kayli, Megan, Jackson, John, and Nathan Moore, Allie and Carlee Reardon, Step-great-grandchild, Alyssa Neare, and several nieces and nephews.
As per Barbara’s wishes all of her funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. She will be paid to rest with her husband in Mountain View Cemetery, Harding.
