Obituary of Stacie Ann Powers

Please share a memory of Stacie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Stacie A. Powers, 49, of Jessup, formerly of West Pittston, passed away unexpectedly Saturday March 2nd, 2024 at her home.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of Barbara Zigmont Powers and the late Brian Powers.  She was a graduate of Seton Catholic High School, Pittston.   Stacie went onto Wilkes University where she earned her Nursing Degree.   Stacie later worked to earn her Certified Neuro Science Registered Nurse (CNRN) certification.  She was so very proud of this accomplishment.

She was employed at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Plains Twp.    Stacie was one of the best nurses around.   She mentored several students that were doing their rotation at the hospital and taught them the best way to treat people and do their job.   Stacie excelled at nursing and many nurses and staff would turn to her for advice in difficult situations. She was always the first her family and friends would go to for any medical advice, she lived for taking care of everyone.

Stacie’s love in life was her family.   She was always taking care of them and adored her five nieces and nephew like they were her own children. They were and forever will be “her kids”.   She never missed an event that the kids had and took them everywhere.    Everyone who knew her knows that she was there for her friends also.   Her group of “Besties” were very important to her and she would do anything for anyone.  She loved R and B music and her sister was so proud to convert her into a country music fan. Stacie was far more than a sister, she was their best friend. Stacie would go way above and beyond for even a stranger that she never really knew.

She loved coaching.   Stacie coached basketball for several years at Seton Catholic High School and also softball.    Everything she did was to teach the children the basics and also other valuable lessons about life.  Stacie was an avid fan of Ohio State Football and the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball.  She was just beginning to teach her niece all she knew about softball.

Stacie was preceded in death by her father, who she adored and missed so much, Brian Powers in 2016; Grandparents James and Hellen Powers and Andrew and Ursula Zigmont; aunt, Ellen Powers and uncles, Kevin, Neil and James Powers, who was also her godfather.

She is survived by her mother, Barbara Powers; sisters, Amy Gilpin and her husband Marvin, West Pittston; Jill Orth and husband Ronnie, Harding; nieces and nephews, Nickarena(Matt Labashosky), Ryan and Aubrey Gilpin, and Raegen and Reese Orth; godmother, Dorothy Powers; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

The Funeral will be held on Friday March 8th, 2024 from the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30pm in St. Barbara Parish 224 Memorial Street, Exeter.  Everyone is asked to go directly to church on Friday afternoon.   Interment will be held on Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.   Relatives and friends may attend a viewing for Stacie on Thursday from 4pm until 8pm at the Funeral Home.
