Ronald Winfield Faust, 80, of West Pittston, passed away Saturday morning March 9th, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Berwick, Pa he was a son of the late Carl L. and Alma Doris Bittenbender Faust Puskar, and married Mary Ann (MAL) Legezdh of Dupont on June 6th, 1970 at St. Nicholas Byzantine Church, Old Forge by Rev. Steven Zajac. 

He was a member of the St. Nicholas Byzantine Church, Old Forge where he was also an usher. 

Ron was a graduate of Liberty Hill High School Bethlehem, Pa and following he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years active duty, and was discharged in 1966 having attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Following Military service, he attended Wilkes College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1970 and then Marywood College with a Master of Public Administration in 1984. 

Ron was employed as a Program Director at the Pittston YMCA.  He was the northeastern Pennsylvania Director of the Governor’s Veterans Outreach and Assistance Center and was the recipient of the Pennsylvania Commendation Medal for Meritorious service.

He served as Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 352 at the First United Methodist Church, West Pittston.  Ron was also a member of the board of directors at the Pittston YMCA, having served as president as well as a trustee.  He was a past commander, finance officer, and service officer of the Greater Pittston AMVETS Post 189; adjutant, service officer, and finance officer of the 1st Lt. Jeffery DePrimo American Legion Post 542, West Pittston.  He was the past president and secretary of the Gino Merli Veterans Center Advisory Council, Scranton and a member of its Hall of Fame.  Ron was also the past president and secretary of the Pittston Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by his wife the former Mary Ann (MAL) Legezdh, daughter, Gretchen Smith and husband Greg, son, Preston Faust and his wife Jennifer, grandchildren, Ava Smith, Henry and George Faust, brother, William Faust and his wife Charlette, sisters, Joann Parker and Betty McArthur and husband Rob, and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Divine Liturgy will be held on Saturday March 16th, 2024 at 10am. in St. Nicholas Byzantine Church at 140 Church Street, Old Forge with Father Edward Shestak, officiating.  Everyone is asked to go directly to church on Saturday morning.    Military Honors will be conducted after Mass.  Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. 

There will be no calling hours.
