Emma Jean Renfer, 93, of Hughestown, passed away Saturday April 6th, 2024 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.
Born in West Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Wilford and Esther Howell. She was a graduate of the West Pittston High School. She was also a life member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pittston.
Emma was a seamstress and worked at many of our area dress and cigar factory’s. She was also employed at Gertude Hawk candy working on the candy line.
She loved her family visits, sitting outside and trips all around the country and Canada. She also enjoyed cruises. Her favorite was entertaining family and friends on holidays especially Christmas. Christmas was her absolute favorite holiday of them all.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband George Renfer in 2018, son, George Renfer Jr. in 2008, sister, Marjorie Altier, Elizabeth Ridgley, brothers, Wilford Howell and Russell Howell.
She is survived by her children, Susan Renfer, Hughestown, Paul and his wife Ann, Harding, grandchildren, Krista, Kristofer and Scott Renfer, Ruth Lovett and Patrick Moore, great-grandchildren, Mieranda, Alex, Alissa, Camden, Rebecca and Reese, Brady, great-great-granddaughter, Aura, brother Kenneth Howell and wife Susan, sister-in-law, Dolores Renfer, daughter-in-law, Darlene Renfer, and several nieces and nephews.
A Visitation for Emma will be held on Tuesday April 16th 2024 from 10am. until 12pm at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston. A service will be held at 12pm. With Pastor John Zimmerman, officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
