Obituary of Jean M. Brown
Jean M. Brown, 63, of Pittston, passed away Thursday evening April 18th, 2024 at her home unexpectedly.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Sarah “Sally” Rattigan McEvoy. She was a graduate of St. Savior’s High School, New York.
Jean was a Nurses Aid at Geisinger Wyoming Valley for many years. She also worked to keep herself busy at the Dollar General, Pittston.
She was a proud member when she was in New York of the group Brooklyn for Peace.
She loved her family. Her grandchildren she adored. Jean loved nature and doing anything outdoors. She loved people and helping them through difficult times and situations. Jean was a big music festival person. She loved just being outside and listening to good music.
Jean is survived by her children, daughter Jill Brown and Fiancé John Founds, Dallas, Pa., son, Owen Brown, Pittston, grandchildren, Owen Brown, Raegan Rosencrans, Emma Brown, a baby girl to be, sister, Peggy McEvoy, Brooklyn, New York, brother, Patrick McEvoy, Brooklyn, New York, Steven McEvoy and wife Maggie, Brooklyn, New York, sister Barbara Murtagh and husband Mel, Colorado, Aunt, Donna McEvoy, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving is William Brown although separated remained close friends.
A viewing will be held on Thursday from 5pm until 8pm at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston. A blessing service will be held at 8pm by Deacon Jim Meizanis of Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
