William E. Yeomans, 88, of West Pittston, passed away Monday evening May 20th, 2024 in United Methodist Homes Wesley Village Campus, Jenkins Twp. surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Waverly, New York he as a son of the late Homer and Edna Saunders Yeomans. He was a graduate of West Pittston High School Class of 1954. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, West Pittston where he was active in the church choir.
After high school he went to East Stroudsburg University where he graduated with his under grad in Education in 1958 and then went and received his masters degree in education from Bucknell University.
He was employed at Souderton High School as a Head Football couch and teacher, Bucknell University, Head Football and Wrestling coach and teacher, Coughlin High School, Head Football coach and teacher, and he was also then the regional sales director at the United Republic Life Insurance company, Harrisburg, Pa, and then the Logistics Manager at Diversified Records, West Pittston until his retirement.
After retirement he was then employed part time at Fox Hill Country Club as the Starter/Ranger for many years.
Bill was a member of the Bisons Club at Bucknell University.
His number one priority was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved attending all of their sporting events. His family trips to Rehoboth Beach were his favorite. He was also a great story teller to whoever would listen.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Homer “Bucky” Yeomans, and sister, Eleanor Roberts.
Bill is survived by his wife of 67 years the former Lois Melberger, son, Scott Yeomans and wife Julianne Ruocco, West Chester, Pa, daughter, Lori Burke and husband Jack, Morgan Hill, Cal., grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alissa, John Burke, Julie Saunders (Jeff), Kristine Schlatter (Peter), Chase and Olivia Yeomans, Kara Ferguson (Ryan), Kaitlin Robinson (Thomas), great-grandchildren, Cole, William, Anthony, PJ, Benjamin, and Erin, sister, Shirley Yeomans, West Pittston, brother and sister in law, Cliff “Mickey” and Ruth Melberger, West Pittston, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing for William on Thursday May 23rd, 2024 from 11:30am. unti 12:30pm at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston. A service will be held at 12:30pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in the West Pittston Cemetery.
