Obituary of Robert Thomas Roote
Robert Thomas Roote B.S., M.A, Juris Doctorate, 70, of West Wyoming, passed away Friday morning June 7th, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. His current home was the home where he was born.
Born in West Wyoming, he was a son of the late Richard Brace and Madeline Barnski Roote. He was a graduate of Wyoming Area High School Class of 1971. There he had lettered in track and field, baseball, wrestling and football.
In 1975, he graduated with a B.S. in English education from Mansfield College, Mansfield, Pa. In 1974, Robert authored the Thesis, “The Historical events behind the celebrated ballad “Naomi Wise”. In 1982, he graduated from North Carolina State University Raleigh, N.C., with an M.A. in English literature. He won an award for teaching at N.C. State and went onto teach not only expository writing, but also technical writing. He eventually worked for LeCroy Corporation in Spring Valley New York as a technical writer and wrote the manual for the ATOM digital oscilloscope. From there he moved back to the area and worked at International Correspondence where he meets Sally Struthers- the spokesperson for ICS at the time.
His first love was teaching and he kept trying to get a job in that field but that was not to be, so he went back to school after readying himself for the LSAT’s and ended up at Temple School of Law. The law was his last job.
Robert was an avid Penn State and New York Yankees fan.
He loved the work and the challenge, but his mind decided that all those concessions in high school had come home to roost. His mind started to betray him more and more until is just would not keep him going anymore.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Leonard Roote, Jerold Roote, John Roote, sisters, Madelyn Roote Barto and Michelle Roote.
Robert is survived by his wife of 45 years Alyse Fine Roote, daughter Sara Roote Ciprich (Cole), son, Henry Lee Roote (Jennifer), son, Mitchell Clark Roote, grandchildren, Aurora, Jessica and Aiden Ormen Roote, brothers, Richard, Clifford and Daniel, sister, Alyce Kuzma, and several nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Robert on Wednesday June 12th, 2024 from 3pm until 6pm at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home Inc., 509 Wyoming Avenue, West Pittston. A service will be held at 6pm with the Pastor Rob Henderson, officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Like in the story of the “Deathly Hollows”, “He embraced death like an old friend”.
